KC Trans Prom

Trans Joy KC presents our first annual KC Trans Prom!

Theme is: Under the Sea

Ticket includes:

• Drag show with performances by: Majastique, Jai Hoe, Romeo Eros Shawn, and Mayhem
• Swing dancing lesson & guided swing by KC Swingout
• Hors d'oeuvres by Cauldron Collective (non-alcoholic beverages also provided)
• Prom Portraits by Jessi Jax of After Hours Photography (digital copies provided, prints available on request)

Masks required. No alcohol will be served.  No door sales - ticket purchase required in advance. 

This event is designed for transgender adults and their dates. 

Event schedule:

7:00pm: Doors open

7:30-8:00pm: Swing dancing lesson by KC Swingout

8:00-9:00pm: Swing DJ

9:00-9:30pm: Break, mingling 

9:30-10:00pm: Drag Show

10:00-11:00pm: Dance DJ

Photography and refreshment booths will be open all evening. 

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are needed to for front door, drink service, and setup/teardown. Free ticket provided for volunteers.

*About the Venue: Spirit of Hope Metropolitan Community Church Ballroom

We realize it can be triggering to attend an event inside a church. Many of us growing up in the Midwest have some level of religious trauma. However, Trans Joy believes that the mission of Spirit of Hope is in alignment with our community.

Spirit of Hope Metropolitan Community Church was founded in 1971 by gay & lesbian Christians who were unwelcomed in their home churches. As the AIDS crisis struck the community in the late 70's and early 80's, the church became a sanctuary for those grieving the loss of their queer families. Spirit of Hope founded Save, Inc. to help further their mission of improving the lives of LGBTQ+ people. Spirit of Hope aims to continue this mission today by supporting the transgender community.
