We are collecting beauty supplies such as: unopened or gently used makeup, brushes, mirrors, curlers/straigheners, wigs, press-on nails, etc. and clothing such as: formal dresses, suits/suit jackets & shirts, dress shoes, ties/bowties, binders, etc. Donations can be dropped off at Anchor Island Coffee on 5/4 from 11am-1pm.
**About the Venue: Spirit of Hope
We realize it may be triggering for some people to attend an event inside a church. However, Trans Joy believes that the mission of Spirit of Hope is in alignment with our community.
Spirit of Hope Metropolitan Community Church was founded in 1971 by gay & lesbian Christians who were unwelcomed in their home churches. As the AIDS crisis struck the community in the late 70's and early 80's, the church became a sanctuary for those grieving the loss of their queer families. Spirit of Hope founded Save, Inc. to help further their mission of improving the lives of LGBTQ+ people. Spirit of Hope aims to continue this mission today by supporting the transgender community.
